Service interruption via unchecked PSD buffer allocation
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Uncontrolled memory allocation in psd-tools before 1.17.4 allows remote attackers to interrupt services via crafted PSD files. PSDImage.composite() and PSDImage.numpy() size output buffers from untrusted header geometry before checking file data or allocation limits. Exposure requires an application to process attacker-supplied PSDs; oversized allocations can trigger an unrecoverable out-of-memory kill.
