Service interruption via unbounded integer decoding
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Resource consumption in python-hyper hpack 4.1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to interrupt service via malformed HPACK integers. The decode_integer function accepts unbounded continuation octets and repeatedly shifts and adds them into an arbitrary-precision integer, producing O(n²) work. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled HPACK header blocks to the decoder; processing can be blocked without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
