Arbitrary file overwrite via conversion output path traversal
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Path traversal in C4illin ConvertX before 0.18.0 allows attackers to overwrite container files through ImageMagick conversion requests. The /convert endpoint accepts traversal sequences in convert_to and incorporates them into the output path for an extensionless image without restricting the destination directory. Exploitation requires authenticated access unless unauthenticated access is enabled; written content is conversion output, and overwriting critical files causes application or system crashes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
