Heap-data disclosure via mismatched IFF scanline stride
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Academy Software Foundation OpenImageIO allows attackers to disclose heap data or crash decoders via crafted IFF files. In IffInput::readimg(), the 16-bit RGBA path allocates a temporary scanline for RGBA channels, but memcpy uses pixel_bytes(), a stride that also counts Z-buffer bytes. Processing an uncompressed 16-bit IFF file with ZBUFFER through the default IFF plugin requires user interaction and can copy adjacent heap memory into output or crash the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 3.0.20.0
