Credential disclosure via unsanitized URL usernames
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Information disclosure in Composer 1.0 through 2.2.28 and 2.3.0 through 2.10.1 allows local users to read credentials from debug output. AuthHelper logs HTTP-Basic usernames verbatim, while Url::sanitize and ProcessExecutor recognize only user:password URL forms and leave username-only tokens unmasked. Exposure requires a credential in the URL username slot, -vvv execution, and retained or shared output readable by another party; password-slot credentials are already masked.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
