Root-filesystem deletion via CLI path traversal
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Path traversal in Fortinet FortiOS, FortiPAM, and FortiProxy allows physically proximate attackers to delete root-filesystem data. A CLI file-deletion operation accepts traversal sequences without confining the resolved path to its intended directory. Exploitation requires high-privilege CLI access and can corrupt appliance files or interrupt service by removing root-filesystem content.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.4.0 <=6.4.16
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <=7.0.19
- Affected versionversion=7.2.0 <=7.2.13
- Affected versionversion=7.4.0 <=7.4.9
