CVE-2026-59827Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via H2 result deserialization

Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Unsafe deserialization in affected Metabase releases allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted H2 query results. The H2 driver's read-column-thunk result handler calls ResultSet.getObject on JAVA_OBJECT columns without rejecting serialized values. Exploitation requires permission to run native queries against an H2 connection; the default sample database is exposed when sample content loading is enabled.
