Authentication bypass via omitted gRPC CRL check
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Certificate validation in etcd before 3.5.32 and 3.6.0-alpha.0 through 3.6.12 allows remote authenticated users to access gRPC. In server/embed/serve.go, gRPC-only mode passes a TLS configuration to grpc.Creds without attaching the CRL check used by the combined listener. Exploitation requires split HTTP and gRPC listeners, an enabled client CRL, and a revoked certificate trusted by the cluster; successful access carries that certificate identity's data permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
