Cross-tenant repository access via uncanonicalized URL paths
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Path traversal in Rclone rclone before 1.74.4 allows remote authenticated users to read, overwrite, or delete other users' repositories. The WithRemote middleware constructs backend object keys from an uncleaned URL path while checkPrivate authorizes only the routed user segment, allowing dot-dot components to cross tenant prefixes. Exploitation requires private-repository mode and a backend that canonicalizes path components; append-only mode blocks writes and deletion but not reads.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
