Code execution via out-of-bounds BMP read
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Siemens Simcenter Femap before 2606.0001 allows attackers to execute code through a crafted BMP file. The BMP parser reads beyond the bounds of its intended buffer while processing malformed image data; Siemens has not disclosed the affected routine or BMP field. Exploitation requires a user to open the file, and resulting code runs in the Femap process context; unsuccessful attempts can crash the application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
