Unauthenticated service crash via unbounded audit buffering
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Denial of service in affected SUSE Rancher 2.12, 2.13, and 2.14 releases allows remote attackers to crash Rancher Manager. The pkg/auth/audit copyReqBody path calls io.ReadAll on request bodies before APIBodyLimitingHandler can enforce its configured cap. Exploitation requires nondefault API audit logging and network access to a public login endpoint; memory exhaustion terminates the management plane.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.12.0 <2.12.12
- Affected versionversion=2.13.0 <2.13.8
- Affected versionversion=2.14.0 <2.14.4
