Client authority escalation via user-token reuse

Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026

Improper authentication in Cloud Foundry Foundation UAA 3.7.0 through 79.6.0 lets remote authenticated users mint privileged client tokens. The OAuth token endpoint accepts a user access token as Bearer client authentication when its client_id matches, then issues a client_credentials token with that client's authorities. Exploitation requires a valid user token for a client configured for both a public authorization flow and client_credentials; resulting access depends on that client's authorities.
