Secret disclosure via template-error decryption oracle
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Template injection in Bitnami Sealed Secrets 0.38.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to disclose secret plaintext through POST requests. The /v1/verify and /v1/rotate handlers decrypt submitted ciphertext and evaluate attacker-controlled spec.template.data Go templates against the plaintext, while template errors produce distinguishable HTTP status codes. Access to the controller's internal port 8080 and a target SealedSecret is required; repeated status comparisons recover the plaintext one character at a time.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
