Remote code execution via cleartext DevTools secret
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Cleartext credential storage in Spring Tools for Eclipse 5.2.0 and earlier allows local users to obtain a DevTools remote secret. The Spring Boot DevTools Client launch configuration writes spring.devtools.remote.secret as a plain string, and Eclipse persists that attribute in cleartext XML. Reading a workspace or shared .launch file exposes the sole endpoint credential, enabling remote class-byte execution against the associated application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
