Privilege escalation via global resolver fallback
Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Spring AI 1.0.0 through 1.0.9, 1.1.0 through 1.1.8, and 2.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to invoke unlisted tools. DefaultToolCallingManager searches the request callback list by name, then falls back to the application-wide ToolCallbackResolver when no request callback matches. Exploitation requires attacker influence over a model response, user interaction, and a globally resolvable tool with authority beyond the request.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.0.0 <=1.0.9
- Affected versionversion=1.1.0 <=1.1.8
