Resource exhaustion in affected Spring Framework versions allows attackers to exhaust heap memory through crafted property paths. After autoGrowCollectionLimit blocks further growth, property traversal still calls list.get(index) without checking current bounds, causing a self-populating List to allocate through an arbitrarily large index. Exposure requires user-supplied paths, a self-populating List property, and a nonscalar element type; successful attacks can interrupt the application through heap exhaustion.
