File disclosure via backslash path traversal
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Path traversal in Spring Framework FreeMarker integration allows attackers to read files outside the template directory via crafted view names. SpringTemplateLoader treats backslash sequences in an untrusted controller-supplied view name as path navigation and resolves beyond its configured root. Exposure requires both FreeMarker resolution through SpringTemplateLoader and a controller that derives view names from untrusted input.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <=5.2.25.RELEASE
