CVE-2026-59260Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via read-role daemon launch

Published Jul 12, 2026 · Updated Jul 12, 2026

Command injection in OpenWrt LuCI allows remote authenticated users with Samba read access to execute commands as root through rpcd. The luci-app-samba4 read ACL authorizes unrestricted file.exec on /usr/sbin/smbd, and rpcd passes caller-controlled arguments that set Samba global options such as message command. Exploitation requires luci-app-samba4 and samba4-server, an authenticated delegated session with the read ACL, and SMB1 message-path support; a triggered SMB message runs the supplied command as root.
