CVE-2026-59253Network attack vector

Cross-project folder assignment via unchecked workflow payload

Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026

Improper authorization in n8n before 2.28.0 allows remote authenticated users to assign workflows to folders in other projects. During workflow creation, the server accepts a client-supplied folder identifier without enforcing that the folder belongs to the creator's project. Exploitation requires workflow-creation permission and multi-project folder support; it alters folder structure metadata without exposing target-project data.
