Remote code execution via unchecked property-name formatting
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Classic buffer overflow in Erlang/OTP allows remote attackers to crash the BEAM VM or execute code through a crafted Megaco message. The mfs_load_property_groups routine passes an oversized property parm name to sprintf, overflowing a fixed 512-byte error_msg field and corrupting adjacent live pointers and counters. Network access to a node configured with the flex scanner is required; fortified builds abort, while unfortified builds expose memory corruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
