Cross-user file overwrite and deletion via model metadata
Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Open WebUI from 0.9.6 before 0.10.0 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite or delete other users' files. _verify_knowledge_file_access admits a read-authorized file ID into writable model meta.knowledge, and has_access_to_file then treats that model association as write authorization. Exploitation requires Models workspace access and a knowledge-base read grant; it enables cross-user rename, content replacement, or deletion.
