CVE-2026-59187Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Heap corruption via undersized deep sample buffers

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Heap out-of-bounds write in OpenEXR exrmetrics 3.3.0 through 3.3.12 and 3.4.0 through 3.4.13 allows attackers to corrupt heap memory. initAndReadDeepScanLine builds FLOAT DeepSlice entries from the converted output header but sizes backing buffers from HALF input channels, causing four-byte writes into two-byte allocations. Reachability requires a crafted deep scanline EXR and pixel conversion such as --pixelmode float or --bench; an unsanitized run can finish without a visible crash despite silent corruption.
