CVE-2026-59186Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Heap corruption via tile-buffer allocation overflow

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Heap out-of-bounds write in OpenEXR before 3.2.11, 3.3.0 through 3.3.12, and 3.4.0 through 3.4.13 allows attackers to crash applications. Array2D::resizeErase multiplies tile dimensions as 32-bit long values before allocation, so wraparound creates an undersized heap buffer that tile decoding overruns. Reachability requires a crafted tiled EXR, a 32-bit ILP32 build, and an application that reads it through the public TiledRgbaInputFile RGBA API; the confirmed consequence is heap corruption and a crash.
