Secret theft and state hijack via unauthenticated API
Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Missing authentication in Mockoon before 9.7.0 allows remote attackers to read secrets and alter mock-server state through its admin API. The admin API shares the Express listener with mock routes, defaults to enabled, accepts unauthenticated reads and writes, and returns wildcard CORS headers permitting state-changing browser requests. Reachability to the server port is sufficient for direct access; cross-origin exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious site while a local instance is reachable.
