Out-of-bounds read via unbounded shared-memory offsets
Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Data::HashMap::Shared before 0.14 allows local users to read adjacent memory or crash a process via a poisoned backing file. shm_validate_header accepts record arrays without validating their arena offsets and lengths, and shm_str_copy passes those file-controlled values to memcpy on iteration and drain paths. Exploitation requires write access to the shared backing file; a crafted record exposes adjacent process memory or terminates the consuming process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
