Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Remote Desktop Client on supported Windows releases allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious RDP server. Microsoft has disclosed only that the client overruns a heap buffer while processing network data from an RDP endpoint; no vulnerable function, message type, or patch diff is public. Exploitation requires a target host to initiate or accept a Remote Desktop connection to an attacker-controlled server, so exposure depends on outbound RDP use rather than inbound RDP service exposure.
