Privilege escalation via path traversal
Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Path traversal in SyncFabric in Microsoft Entra Provisioning Service allows remote authenticated users to gain higher privileges over a network. Microsoft has disclosed only that SyncFabric improperly neutralizes .../...// sequences in a pathname derived from authenticated input, allowing path resolution outside the intended directory boundary. Reachability requires valid access to the hosted provisioning service, and the public record does not disclose which internal resources become reachable or whether cross-tenant impact is possible.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
