Code execution via undersized SFW heap allocation

Out-of-bounds write in GIMP on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 through 9 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted SFW files. The file-seattle-filmworks loader passes an attacker-controlled length to fread after allocating a smaller heap buffer, writing several kilobytes past the allocation. Exploitation requires a user to open the file in GIMP and can corrupt application memory or crash the process within the user's security context.
