Local privilege escalation via MountRegistry buffer overread
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Android 14, 15, 16, and 16-qpr2 allows local users to escalate privileges through the System component. The forEachLine routine in incfs/MountRegistry.cpp reads beyond a buffer boundary after an overflow. Exploitation requires local access but no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and successful exploitation elevates privileges.
