Local privilege escalation via SMMU use-after-free
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Use-after-free in Android kernel arm-smmu-v3.c allows local users with System execution privileges to escalate privileges. Multiple functions access memory after its lifetime ends because of a logic error, but Google has not disclosed the functions or faulty lifetime transition. Exploitation requires local access and existing System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and yields higher local privileges.
