Remote code execution via unchecked film-grain parameters
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Android Pixel film-grain decoding allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted encoded video data. DecodeFilmGrainParams in film_grain_dec.cc fails to bounds-check film-grain parameters before writing decoder state, permitting data to be written beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires no additional execution privileges or user interaction and can compromise the decoder process when affected Pixel-family software handles the input.
