Local privilege escalation via heap buffer overflow
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Heap buffer overflow in the Android kernel allows local users to escalate privileges through the gf_ta_test_set_config path. A logic error in gf_ta_test.c causes gf_ta_test_set_config to access memory beyond a heap allocation when processing crafted configuration data. Exploitation requires local access to an affected Pixel-family device but no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and successful abuse grants elevated privileges.
