Configuration overwrite via unrestricted settings parameters
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Mass assignment in Dan-in-CA SIP 5.2.16 and earlier allows remote attackers to overwrite controller settings via HTTP parameters. The change_values handler converts every submitted key to an integer, writes it into the global settings dictionary, and persists that dictionary without an allowed-name check. Direct exploitation requires network access while passphrase protection is disabled; otherwise, a cross-site request can make an authenticated browser overwrite values such as the passphrase and HTTP port.
