File read and code execution via unchecked PATH_INFO
Published Jul 2, 2026 · Updated Jul 2, 2026
Path traversal in Cockpit CMS through 2.14.0 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through crafted URL paths. The index.php space-storage handler uses PATH_INFO copied from REQUEST_URI to build a path under .spaces without canonicalization or containment checks. Dot-dot sequences expose readable files; PHP targets are passed to include(), enabling code execution only when raw paths reach PHP, as with the built-in server or certain non-default Nginx configurations.
