Command injection via unescaped gnuplot title subtype
Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Command injection in GPSD Project gpsd 3.27.5 and earlier allows attackers to execute shell commands via crafted GPS subtype data. The gpsprof client copies a DEVICES JSON or NMEA PGRMT subtype into a generated gnuplot set title string while escaping quotes but not backticks. Execution occurs only when an operator profiles the malicious feed or log and renders the generated program with gnuplot, under the renderer user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
