Authenticated private organization disclosure via token scope bypass
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Improper access control in Gitea 1.26.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read private organization membership and permissions. The organization-listing route omits checkTokenPublicOnly, while related middleware evaluates user context rather than each returned organization, leaving private results unfiltered. Exploitation requires a public-only token with read:user and read:organization for an account in a private organization and exposes organization names, roles, and capabilities.
