File write via unchecked override common_name
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Path traversal in OPNsense Core OpenVPN overrides allows remote authenticated users to write configuration files outside the CSO directory. The openvpn_csc_conf_write() function appends stored common_name values to its output path without normalization or a basename check. Exploitation requires Client Specific Override privileges and processing of a matching client name or username; written content is generated OpenVPN configuration, not arbitrary bytes.
