Local command execution via shell-interpolated tool arguments
Published Apr 9, 2026 · Updated Apr 9, 2026
Command injection in Brock Wilcox TaskWarrior MCP Server 1.0.0 through 1.0.1 allows local users to execute arbitrary shell commands. The mark_task_done, add_task, and get_next_tasks handlers interpolate identifier, description, project, tags, and due values into strings passed to child_process.execSync. A low-privileged local user who can supply MCP tool arguments gains command execution with the MCP server process's privileges.
