Arbitrary file disclosure via unsandboxed iframe scripts
Published Jul 7, 2026 · Updated Jul 7, 2026
Origin validation failure in Anki before 25.09.4 allows remote attackers to read local files through a malicious imported card package. The media server applies an insufficient content security policy to untrusted HTML or SVG, allowing iframe scripts to call localhost API methods such as getImageForOcclusion. Exploitation requires a desktop user to import an untrusted .apkg and view its embedded iframe; the script can exfiltrate files readable by Anki but cannot modify them.
