CVE-2026-58198Public exploit

Local corpus disclosure via symlinked extraction directory

Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Path redirection in ChatterBot before 1.2.14 allows local users to read extracted corpus files from an attacker-chosen directory. UbuntuCorpusTrainer.extract() checks a predictable home-directory path with os.path.exists(), then passes that path to tar.extractall() without rejecting a pre-planted directory symlink. Exploitation requires local filesystem access before training begins and exposes extracted corpus contents without a reported ability to modify existing files or interrupt the service.
