Proxy crash via txn_box stack overflow
Published Jul 29, 2026 · Updated Jul 29, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in the txn_box plugin for Apache Traffic Server allows remote attackers to crash the proxy via crafted network input. Apache has not disclosed the vulnerable function, input field, or operation that writes beyond the txn_box stack buffer. The plugin must be loaded globally or for remapping, and exploitation interrupts proxy service without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.0.0 <=10.1.3
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <=8.1.9
- Affected versionversion=9.0.0 <=9.2.14
