CVE-2026-58162Network attack vector

Certificate forgery via attacker-controlled client SNI

Published Jul 29, 2026 · Updated Jul 29, 2026

Improper certificate validation in the Apache Traffic Server certifier plugin allows remote attackers to generate attacker-named certificates. The plugin accepts the TLS ClientHello SNI as the certificate identity and signs a new certificate with its configured CA without validating that name. Exposure requires the certifier plugin with dynamic generation enabled, allowing unauthenticated clients to create trusted certificates and consume certificate storage.
