Local privilege escalation via incorrect primary group selection
Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Credential-switching flaw in FreeBSD 15.0-RELEASE before p13 and 15.1-RELEASE before p3 allows local users to gain unintended group privileges. group_is_primary() reads the first supplementary-group array element instead of the dedicated primary-group field when a rule omits a target group. With a matching administrator-defined rule, an empty supplementary-group list yields wheel membership; root access additionally requires a configured group-0 transition.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
