Remote-control scope expansion via file-transfer authorization
Published Jun 28, 2026 · Updated Jun 28, 2026
Incorrect authorization in RustDesk 1.4.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to control input and capture screens via file-transfer sessions. The post-authorization dispatcher checks broad capability flags instead of AuthConnType, while FileTransfer login leaves input enabled and screenshot handlers reachable. A valid password proof or user-approved file-transfer session is required; the flaw does not bypass authentication.
