Root database command execution via SQL mode loss
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
SQL injection in WebPros cPanel and WP Squared allows remote authenticated users to execute database commands with root privileges. The database-renaming path fails to preserve the active SQL mode before processing rename input in the root database context, causing that input to be interpreted with unsafe SQL semantics. Exploitation requires an authenticated cPanel account with the MySQL or MariaDB feature; resulting database administration can extend to operating-system compromise on some configurations.
