Stored XSS via unescaped linelinks value
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Stored XSS in Wikimedia SyntaxHighlight allows remote authenticated users to run script in readers' browsers via crafted linelinks values. includes/SyntaxHighlight.php forwards the unescaped, user-controlled linelinks attribute to Pygments, which embeds it as an HTML line-anchor prefix. Page-editing access is required, and viewing the stored highlighted block executes attacker-controlled script in the reader's origin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
