Authenticated hit-count disclosure via API permission bypass
Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Information disclosure in Wikimedia Foundation AbuseFilter allows remote authenticated users to view private-filter hit counts through the API. QueryAbuseFilters.php returns the requested hits property without applying the private or protected-filter permission check used for restricted data. Any authenticated account that lacks private-filter viewing rights can enumerate per-filter activity counts, but cannot obtain filter rules or abuse-log contents through this flaw.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=* <1.46.0, 1.45.4, 1.44.6, 1.43.9
