EL3 memory corruption via unchecked mailbox response address
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Untrusted pointer dereference in Altera Trusted Firmware-A socfpga_v2.14.0 and earlier allows local users to corrupt EL3 secure memory. The SDM mailbox response path dereferences a caller-controlled response address without first verifying that it lies outside protected secure memory. Reaching the flaw requires code executing on an affected HPS platform with access to the firmware mailbox interface, and corruption is confined to that device's secure-world memory.
