Privilege escalation via unvalidated SiP mailbox pointers
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Altera Arm Trusted Firmware-A through socfpga_v2.14.0 allow local users to escalate privileges via SiP v2 calls. The EL3 SiP v2 mailbox handler accepts physical-address pointers from non-secure EL1 without validating that they reference permitted non-secure memory. An attacker already executing at non-secure EL1 can make EL3 access arbitrary physical addresses across the normal-world trust boundary.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
