Arbitrary guest file write via filename traversal
Published Jun 29, 2026 · Updated Jun 29, 2026
Path traversal in spice-vdagent on Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows attackers controlling the SPICE host to write arbitrary guest files. During file transfer, g_build_filename() silently discards the configured save directory for absolute paths, while traversal segments are not rejected. Control of an untrusted or compromised SPICE host is required; writes run with spice-vdagent privileges, typically those of the logged-in user.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
